What Is Bibliomancy?

Bibliomancy is the practice of foretelling the future by interpreting a randomly chosen passage from a book.

This was traditionally from a bible or a dictionary. Nowadays a variety of books, magazines, comics and poetry can be used. Children’s literature can be a nice subject matter to use. Classics such as Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland are a good place to start.

It might be a nice idea to make your own bibliomancy book made up of inspirational quotes for your own personal use. Pinterest can provide some spiritual and uplifting quotes.

A personal story

A few years ago my landlord decided to sell their house and through no fault of my own I found myself sleeping on my elderly parents living room floor and my 2 teenage children and my cat staying at their dads. My furniture was in storage and that was everything including any divination items and cards etc. I was getting quite desperate with nothing suitable coming up. I really wanted to know that something positive was on the horizon.

I looked around and I clapped eyes on my dad’s old dictionary. I closed my eyes, asked my spirit guides the question “where am I going to live next?” and opened the page and blindly put my finger on it. The word was ‘fern.’ A month later a friend of my mums offered me a house for rent on a road that was next to ‘Fernside’. I’ll never forget that. That information was really needed at that particular time.

In the same session I decided to ask about an old flame of mine. “What did he want from me?” The word was ‘pedestal.’ This made me laugh. He had put me on a pedestal and I inevitably had fell off.

Don’t doubt the power of divining with books. It certainly worked for me!
