ALPHABET DIVINATION
The letters in any alphabet all carry a meaning much like numbers in numerology. Throughout the ages people have carved letters onto wooden, stone, pebble tiles or runes such as the Greek Alphabet Oracle which I will discuss later.
An inexpensive way to divine with the alphabet these days is to use scrabble tiles. These can be combined with charm casting or bone sets, runes or crystals. An initial making an appearance in a throw may be the initial of a person’s name, a placename or an important event. It could even be the initial of someone attempting to communicate from the spirit world.
THE MODERN ENGLISH ALPHABET
The English alphabet as we know today of 26 letters began in the 16th Century. It is derived from Semitic, Phoenician, Greek and Roman scripts. Previous to this the Anglo-saxons used a runic alphabet called Futhorc. Later on, the Normans introduced Latin.
Below is a list of all the 26 individual letters of the modern English alphabet. The first line in quotes is from Seldean Smith’s blog post on the website https://www.daytranslations.com/blog/origin-english-alphabet/ which tells us how the letters were derived. The second line is the divinatory meaning of the letter.
